bercotherm® resistance wire

Versatile resistance wires for different applications areas

With bercotherm®, Berkenhoff GmbH has developed special resistance alloys. The main task of bercotherm® resistance wires is to convert electrical energy into thermal energy. Applications like this exist in many areas. There are different requirements regarding temperature ranges, mechanical requirements, diameters, and much more. With bercotherm®, we offer our customers resistance wires made of various alloys. The resistance wires can be used in a variety of ways and are suitable for applications such as electric blankets, underfloor heating systems, seat heating, or electrofusion sockets.

Advantages of bercotherm® resistance wire

Optimizing costs by selecting intelligent alloys

  • Not all applications will require the use of expensive Cu-Ni alloys
  • We offer nickel-free alloys which may significantly reduce the material price

Optimizing costs using higher conductivity

  • An increase in conductivity will enable a thinner wire diameter to be used
  • Thinner bercotherm®  wires have a lower weight per meter – allowing more meters to be produced from one kilogram of wire

Optimizing costs using higher mechanical strength

  • The range of bedra alloys include materials with significantly higher mechanical strengths.
  • The high strength bercotherm® alloys make it possible to achieve the same specified requirements compared to the classic CuNi alloys with thinner dimensions. This results in more meters of wire per kilogram

Optimizing weight through miniaturization of wire

  • Our bercotherm® alloy range – with superior electrical and mechanical properties - offers the opportunity to reduce the cross-section of the wire (mm²), resulting in weight savings.
  • Excellent solutions for applications requiring aggressively reduced weights without sacrificing performance

Our highlights

Copper-nickel alloys according to standard DIN 17471

bedra offers a large number of resistance wires made of a copper-nickel alloy (CuNi) according to the DIN 17471 standard. The following overview shows all the corresponding bercotherm® copper-nickel alloys:

bercotherm® C product family

Our bercotherm® C product family, made with a brass alloy, is a cost-effective alternative to the classic copper-nickel alloy (CuNi) solutions found in the market today. Our products are specially developed for low-temperature applications and offer the following advantages:

  • Identical resistance values compared to classic copper-nickel alloys
  • Identical German-engineered quality and reliability
  • Proven alloy performance comparable to those used in DIN 17471 applications
  • Up to 40% cost reduction
  • Patented technology*
