Specific heat

Specific heat (also known as specific heat capacity) describes a material's ability to store thermal energy. It indicates the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of a given mass of a substance by one kelvin. Specific heat is a material-dependent property and is expressed in joules per kilogram per kelvin (J/(kg·K)).
