Micro-erosion

Micro-erosion

Micro-erosion is a specialized sub-discipline of spark erosion (EDM – Electrical Discharge Machining) that focuses on extremely fine material removal in areas such as grooves, cavities, and flow channels previously shaped by roughing or semi-finishing erosion passes.

Although similar in principle to a finishing pass, micro-erosion is specifically intended to refine and enhance erosion structures, rather than merely improving dimensional accuracy. It targets the smallest details of a workpiece to optimize geometry, surface quality, and structural definition.
