Melting temperature

The melting temperature is the characteristic temperature at which a substance transitions from the solid to the liquid state. It is material-specific and is only slightly affected by pressure, which is why pressure influence is often negligible. Pure metals have a well-defined melting temperature, whereas alloys typically solidify over a melting range.
