EDM wire

EDM wire

EDM wire is used for spark erosion or wire erosion. In this process, the erosion wire (also known as a wire electrode) slides in a working tank with insulating liquid - contactless and endless - with voltage applied, through “a workpiece” which serves as a second electrode. The effect: a spark inferno around the wire electrode. High-performance electronics trigger pulse generators. Around one million discharges per second. Cutting speeds of up to 400 mm² / min and more. Plasma temperatures of over 10,000° C - and yet the workpiece remains cold. This means: metal atoms vaporize explosively and dig a micro-canyon through the workpiece, accurate to the µm, highly precise and following a programmed track. The corresponding wire electrodes for spark erosion come from bedra.
