Characteristics:
It combines excellent electrical and thermal conductivity with enhanced mechanical strength and resistance to softening at elevated temperatures, achieved through precipitation hardening. Zirconium prevents electrode sticking during spot welding of galvanized steel, while a minor addition of silicon (Si) further improves the alloy's thermal stability.
Typical applications:
Due to its superior thermal stability, this alloy is a preferred choice for resistance welding applications, including welding wheels, spot welding electrodes, seam welding wheels and tips, and contact tips. It is also used for mold inserts in non-ferrous metal casting molds.
