Cupola furnace

Cupola furnace

A cupola furnace is a shaft furnace used in the metal industry for the production of cast metal. The structure of the cupola furnace is similar to that of a blast furnace, but it is smaller and specifically designed for melting iron and other metals. The material is continuously charged from the top, and inside the furnace, the molten metal is produced through the introduction of gases and flames. The energy sources for melting typically include coke, oil, or natural gas.

Cupola furnaces are mainly used in foundries to produce cast metals for various applications, such as cast iron for machinery and structures. They are known for their efficiency and the ability to recycle metal scrap.

This type of furnace has a high melting capacity and allows for continuous metal production with relatively low operating costs.
